Privacy and Google user data

Privacy Policy

1. Purpose and current status

Hybrid Nutrition Backup is a private backup utility under development for the owner of the separate Hybrid Nutrition nutrition-tracking application. The intended function is to preserve encrypted nutrition database backups in the owner's personal Google Drive account. It is not yet operating on real nutrition records.

2. Google permissions requested

When separately authorised, the utility will request the Google Drive OAuth permission https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file. This permits access to files the utility creates or is expressly permitted to access. The utility does not request unrestricted access to all Drive contents, Gmail, Google Calendar, or Google Sheets.

3. How data would be used

The utility is intended to upload encrypted backup archives, retrieve encrypted archives to verify their integrity or support recovery, and list or delete the specific backup files that it manages. It is not intended to inspect unrelated Drive files. The underlying backup may contain private nutrition records from the app's approved users; these will be encrypted before being sent to Drive.

4. Storage, sharing and security

Encrypted archives will be stored in the owner's Google Drive and subject to Google's storage practices and the owner's sharing settings. The proposed architecture keeps the decryption private key separate and under the owner's control, while using narrowly scoped technical credentials for authorised uploads. Temporary plaintext database exports may be processed by the backup system before encryption; development and testing must verify secure disposal. This website contains no tracking pixels, advertising scripts, analytics, or login forms.

Google account data accessed by the utility will not be sold, shared with advertisers, or used for personalised advertising. Service infrastructure may process the minimum information required to provide backup and recovery operations.

5. Retention and deletion

The owner will control whether backup files remain in Google Drive and may delete them from their Drive account. A rotation and retention schedule will be introduced and published before real backups are activated. Disconnecting Google access revokes future access by the utility but may not automatically delete files already stored in Drive.

6. Owner's controls

Google Drive permission can be reviewed or revoked through the Google Account's third-party connections page. The utility will not request access without the account holder's explicit authorisation.

7. Contact and updates

For privacy questions, use the user support contact displayed on Hybrid Nutrition Backup's Google OAuth consent screen. This policy will be updated before the service processes real nutrition backups or changes its access, retention or sharing practices.

This page describes an in-development application and its intended practices; it does not claim that unattended backups or production security controls have already been deployed.
